Background & Rationale

Why ACTIF OYO Exists

Nigeria's democratic system has historically struggled with limited youth representation, weak civic engagement, and entrenched political structures that exclude younger generations. Oyo State's vibrant youth population — across education, technology, business, arts, and professional sectors — has operated in fragmented silos, limiting collective influence on political narratives.

ACTIF OYO is the unifying framework. It integrates diverse youth categories into a shared agenda: endorsing credible candidates with proven integrity and competence, while strengthening democratic culture across all 33 LGAs of Oyo State.

Why Your PVC Matters
2027 General Elections · Oyo State

Without a PVC, you cannot vote. Without your vote, your voice does not count. ACTIF OYO's entire mission — endorsing credible leaders, influencing governance outcomes, transforming political culture — depends on a large, registered, active youth electorate.

Young people represent a majority of eligible voters in Oyo State. If even 60% of unregistered youth register and vote as a unified bloc, the political mathematics of Oyo State change permanently.

ACTIF OYO Urges Youths to Register for PVC Ahead of the 2027 General Elections

The ACTIF OYO movement calls on young people across Oyo State to take an active role in shaping the future of democracy by registering for their Permanent Voters' Cards (PVCs) and preparing to participate fully in the 2027 general elections. As Nigeria approaches another important democratic milestone, it is essential that the voices, aspirations, and concerns of young people are reflected in the electoral process.

Young people represent a significant proportion of Nigeria's population and hold immense potential to influence governance outcomes through responsible civic participation. However, this potential can only be realized when youths move beyond political discussions and take concrete steps to engage with the democratic process. Obtaining a PVC remains the first and most important step in exercising the constitutional right to vote and ensuring that the collective voice of the youth population is heard.

ACTIF OYO believes that the future of Oyo State and Nigeria depends on the willingness of its young citizens to participate actively in democratic decision making. The 2027 elections present an opportunity for youths not only to vote but also to contribute meaningfully to shaping political discourse, evaluating candidates, and supporting leaders who demonstrate competence, integrity, and commitment to public service.

We therefore encourage all eligible youths across the state — including students, professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, and young workers — to take advantage of voter registration opportunities provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Beyond registration, ACTIF OYO urges young voters to remain informed and engaged throughout the electoral cycle. Youths should assess the vision, character, competence, and track record of candidates seeking public office. Supporting credible leaders with integrity and capacity is essential to strengthening democratic governance and advancing sustainable development in Oyo State and Nigeria.

The movement also calls on youth organizations, student unions, professional associations, community groups, and civil society networks to intensify awareness campaigns promoting voter registration and civic education.
